Corey Leong is the Executive Director of the Global
Real Estate and Technology Consortium, Inventor
of the World Wide MLS(tm), and Creator of Real
Estate Science Body of Knowledge.
Bio
Corey is a graduate of the University of South
Florida in Tampa, Florida. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Management
of Information Systems while a student at USF. He currently is working on his Master's
in Nonprofit Management at the University of
Central Florida in Orlando Florida.
Corey is the creator and author of the Real Estate
Description Framework (RealDF), a Resource
Description Framework for
the real estate industry. RealDF allows real estate resources on the web
to be described and discovered by humans and machines. This framework
contributes directly to the W3's
Sir Tim Berner-Lee's
vision of a "semantic web" or a web of data.
In addition, Corey is the founder of the Real Estate Is Global Initiative
in which its purpose is to connect properties to people globally. The Initiative's
goal is connect 100,000,000 people to properties in the next five years using
the web, social networks, and open standards.
Corey entered the real estate industry in 1999 as a licensed sales agent,
then as a licensed real estate broker, and finally as a state licensed real
estate instructor. After spending time researching and learning the
intricacies of the industry especially Multiple Listing Service (MLS), he
allowed all of his licenses to expire to create a needed industry solution,
a level playing field for real estate buyers and sellers, an open and
unrestricted MLS. This neutral platform, OpenMLS, allowed anyone to post,
browse, list, and advertise their real estate listing online, worldwide and
virtually in Second Life. OpenMLS was the first open MLS in the real
world and in any virtual world.
